"Amnesty Republicans" Dividing America
Grassfire.org
The Senate just passed it’s Hagel-Martinez Amnesty bill -- what many are calling the “No Illegal Alien Left Behind Act” -- by a final vote of 62-36.
If you have been watching the debate then you know that this outrageous bill has gotten worse by the hour. Right down to the final minutes before the vote, Senators were adding language that further undermines our nation. For example, the bill calls for “consultation” with Mexican authorities before the agreed-upon fence is built! Wanna bet there will be no fence, at least not before millions more illegals come across our border?

+ + “Amnesty Republicans”
The fact is, the “Amnesty Republicans” are dividing America and destroying their party’s hopes in November, when they could have divided Democrats and destroyed their hopes by forcing them to vote on a border security/law enforcement bill. It was about all I could take this week while in Senate offices listening to staffers tell me “the Senator doesn’t think this is amnesty.” Barf.
Check some presidential hopefuls off the list: Frist (failed leadership), Brownback (what’s he thinking?), and especially McCain.
We need to make these Amnesty Republicans pay at the polls. Here’s your list of “Amnesty Republicans.” Remember -- without these Republicans there would be no amnesty bill!

+ + Don’t’ Lose Hope -- Battle Just Begun!
The battle to secure our borders and save our nation from an amnesty flood is far from over. After the Senate’s Memorial Day recess, the bill will go to House-Senate Conference Committee. Our team is already developing our strategy to embolden the House to oppose the Senate amnesty measure. We can defeat this, but it will take a rising tide of grassroots citizen outrage in the coming weeks.
For now, let me each Grassfire team member for the work you have done to ensure that the voice of citizens is heard in this debate. Grassfire team members literally flooded the Senate with hundreds of thousands of letters, faxes, phone calls (well over 350,000 in all!). We are now nearing 500,000 petitions thanks to you. Our “Stop The Invasion” billboards are quickly expanding from coast-to-coast and we will soon be announcing plans to take this effort to hundreds of communities across the nation.
We can win this fight for the very soul of our nation -- to secure our borders and stop the amnesty flood that the Senate has pushed today. Thank you again for the stand you are taking, and be watching for very important updates from Grassfire in the coming days.

This is an invasion!
Received this from a grassfire friend. Worth the read.
--steve elliott, grassfire
Hello Steve,
I just viewed your latest Web link email (RE: Dallas billboard) and
would like to comment. Please excuse the lengthiness of this letter but
immigration issues (illegal or otherwise) is a subject that often
ruffles my feathers.
I am a 25+ year military veteran, originally from Miami, Florida. As a
young boy (in the early 1960's) in Miami I was forced to witness the
"invasion" of Cuban refugees into South Florida, after the overthrow of
Batista in Cuba (circa '59). This was an effort spearheaded during the
Kennedy administration and endorsed by the then Mayor Robert King High.
I saw the American culture greatly impacted by a group of people from
Cuba (many unwilling to fight for their homeland), and other South
American countries, who demonstrated NO DESIRE to assimilate, learn the
English language, or demonstrate respect to those that were forced to
welcome them. Unfortunately, many Miamians realized their local
governments were not too concerned on the social impact within their
communities and eventually were compelled to relocate to other parts of
the state or country. (NOTE: When referencing the Kennedy clan, and
while stationed on Cape Cod, I never encountered a massive influx of
non-English speaking immigrants residing in Hyannis....hum...I wonder
why???)
In Miami, I vividly recall seeing storeowners gradually displaying signs
that read "Se Habla Espanol" on the entrances to their businesses. In
later years (1980's), while visiting my "once" hometown, I saw these
same shops still displaying signs although, at that time, the signs were
written in English saying "We Speak English".
Today Miami is among the cities with the distinction of having the
highest crime rates (mostly drug trafficking related), deplorable
roadways, and among the worst educational systems in the nation.
That said, I'd like to express my appreciation to your organization for
your valiant efforts. FINALLY someone is organized, and stepping
forward, and "trying" to wake up America regarding the issues on illegal
immigration. The MASSIVE influx of immigrants, unwilling to assimilate
to "our" homeland or abide by this nation's laws, has GREATLY impacted
most American's culture and way of life. Many of my elderly friends
living throughout Florida today have a sense of being trapped in a
culture they did not desire but are forced to exist in. In Miami, most
of the English speaking non-Hispanic Senior Citizens feel as though they
are unable to shop, place phone calls to merchants, or even communicate
with their neighbors, unless they are bi-lingual (defined as Spanish
speaking and not other languages). When I retired from active duty I
explored the possibility of seeking employment in South Florida, but was
routinely told I MUST speak Spanish in order to qualify for positions in
my skill set.
I reviewed your audio interviews with Dallas residents, and listened
while you queried attendees as to whether the word "Invasion" was too
harsh a term. I'd like to say, your billboard is actually too mild. It
should say "Wake-up America...your homeland's sovereignty is under
ASSAULT by an invasion of illegal aliens. Many (not all) are carriers
of contagious diseases, criminal histories, and the will to completely
disrupt your culture and undermine/steal from your family's social and
economic resources...and your next generation's futures"
Another suggestion would be the "shock factor" to illustrate the White
House and the Capitol Dome waving Mexican flags atop each structure,
with taco stands, sombrero wearing Mexican bands, and children beggars
lining Pennsylvania Avenue...with all captions written in Spanish.
I know that suggestion is too wordy (and clearly politically offensive)
but then, there's not enough words to describe the problems that have
been allowed to proliferate for far too many years...by our Past and
Present do-nothing governments. City, county, state, and federal
governments have shown VERY LITTLE concern over the protection of all
American's rights for decades. I for one am TOTALLY disgusted with the
majority of our elected and so-called "entrusted" policy makers (I
refuse to call them Leaders). I know they all took an oath of office
that they swore to uphold, and have failed miserably in the performance
of their sworn duties. Once upon a time in America these same morons
would have been tar-ed n' feathered and put on public display in the
town square.
In 1986, when our legislators granted amnesty to millions of illegal and
arrogant Social Sponges, this dumb ole' American knew it was the prelude
of worse things to come for a country I once swore to uphold true faith
and allegiance to. In later years I also angrily witnessed the constant
out-sourcing of good American jobs while the Clinton and Bush
administrations sold the public snake-oil otherwise known as NAFTA and
CAFTA, which created the greatest trade deficient this country has ever
been forced to live with. Although I am channeling my limited funds for
other anti-illegal immigration issues (rather than billboards that are
GREATLY welcomed) I would like to respectfully request the following
from Grassfire.org.
During the 2004 Presidential debates I closely watched and observed the
fact that, in all forums, the topic of Illegal Immigration Reform was
superficially addressed or questioned. Most questions directed toward
either candidate was referencing America's economy, the war in Iraq,
dealing with terrorism, or who will be voted off the TV show
Survivor...blah...blah...blah. Although many of those issues were/are
valid concerns I realized Illegal Immigration Enforcement was not a
topic our legislators wished to expose themselves to...and the American
public was not too concerned with.
I'm asking Grassfire to PLEASE launch a detailed initiative to do just
that (expose these irresponsible bastards for who they TRULY are)...and
to disseminate your findings (via the Internet and other forms of media
communication) to a wide spectrum of voters. Sadly, it's not enough to
ask your readers to write to their congressional representatives. Many
would decline to do so anyway, thinking their voice would not be heard
(or heeded) by their entrusted officials. I firmly believe many
Americans have lost "trust" in many of this nation's elected/appointed
officials. According to recent polls (that are only random subjective
surveys at best) the approval ratings have dropped below the radar
screen anyway. And...ask the former Mayor and City Council members,
recently ousted by the voters in Herndon, VA, if they appreciated the
wide "local" exposure that forced them out of office, when advocating
tax-payer expenditures for a facility that would accomodate illegal
migrant workers.
What I'm requesting is that Grassfire investigate and publish
comprehensive listings of ALL named officials opposed to Immigration
Reform and Illegal Entry ENFORCEMENT. Expose all those in favor of
amnesty programs that historically are proven not to work, mainly
because of lack of enforcement and flawed provisions. Those reluctant
to IMMEDIATELY secure: a) both northern & southern borders; b)
seashores; c) seaports; d) and ALL other international ports of
entry...and AGGRESSIVELY enforce current immigration laws.
Perhaps you could also provide listings by state, of each official's
voting record regarding this issue and their opposition to initiatives
for eliminating the Anchor Baby protection currently provided to illegal
aliens. If you could widely expose them for who they truly
are...betrayers to this country's sovereignty, security, safety, and
everyday freedoms/liberties this country was founded on, than MAYBE
these sorry excuses for leadership could be, at best, IMMEDIATELY
removed from the office they swore to uphold the laws of this nation to.
This type of information is not widely available - and is imperative in
knowing, in order to launch a valid and accountable anti-"re-election"
campaign within all states as soon as possible.
Yesterday I learned that "unknown" sources in Washington were ordering
the Border Patrol to stand-down, and were also providing to the Mexican
government the strategic locations of the Minute Man placements. Those
in Washington responsible for this reprehensible behavior should be
placed in exile or forced into a different environment, other than the
one they currently enjoy. Probably some of these same morons are
officials your readers have historically written to. We NEED TO KNOW
who they are and get rid of them in America's best interests.
In closing I'd like to thank-you for your time and patriotic efforts.
For far too many years many Americans have chosen to ignore this issue,
accept the status-quo, and project a politically correct image. Those
days should all become known as "Yesterdays"!
Sincere regards,
Ben Godwin (USAF retired)
Layton, Utah
PS - I'd also like to add that I do not consider myself a racist or
bigot that many would hasten to describe. I am just one pissed-off
American. While on active duty I married a woman from Portugal. She
was fluent in reading, writing, AND speaking the English language. She
is well educated and a great contributor to American society. I'd also
like to add that, although I was serving my country as an American in
uniform, it took several months of coordination with both the American
and Portuguese Consulates to obtain her visa and registration. And, as
soon as she was eligible, she passed her US citizenship exams with
flying Red, White, & Blue colors. LET FREEDOM RING for those willing to
earn and sacrifice for it!!!!!!

Violence in L.A. Illegal Alien Protests
--Steve Elliott, Grassfire
I really wish you'd put several [“Stop The Invasion” billboards] up in Los Angeles. I live right in the middle of a Latino community and last night, while supposedly involved in a peaceful protest, a group of Latinos began throwing rocks and bottles at police officers three blocks from where I live. One officer was injured. I saw the damage this morning on the way to work. One of the boys kicked in the side of a bus stop shelter and this morning I could see that he'd kicked a hole all the way through the side of it. They had also broken out windows in the neighboring businesses. It was terrible! My neighborhood was utter chaos last night.
I kept thinking that if they'd just carry their protest into Beverly Hills and Bel Air acting the way they did in my neighborhood last night, the residents of those areas would have been on the phone to their representatives in no time flat demanding that these people are sent back.
It's created so much anger in me that I've had to step back because it's affecting my health. I have nothing against Latino people but this is simply wrong. And, if they are allowed to stay here, the violence and the vandalism and drug dealing is going to get worse. Thank you for all of your efforts to protect our country. Kimberly , Los Angeles
